I think they got confused, and most teams have a play, that if there are communications problems they use it, usually a very safe play. I think it might be that the 49er’s play was a dive play.
Maybe the 49ers were thinking the Cardinals were expecting the quarterback to spike the ball and stop the clock and thought they could surprise them with a quick run up the middle.
same to me, and yes bad coaching, they could have at least play action
it, that way the cardinals think its a run then pass it to a receiver far to
the right common sense.
Mike Martz is an idiot, and the 49ers get confused way to easily. They lost 20 seconds since they couldn’t properly line up for a spike play. Instead of getting 3-4 plays from the goal line, they just got 2. Gore tried and failed to run it in first, and Michael Robinson (why him?) was completely stuffed as time expired. Martz should’ve tried a short dump off pass, and then ran it. I guess it’s just Martz’s bad play call and the fact the 49ers are just plain out bad (though they were phenomenal in the 1st half)
Mike Martz called for a player changed at 46 seconds left at the 1 yd line… which caused the 49rs to loose 20+ seconds and shawn hill couldn’t snap the ball until the players were properly lined up and as far as the play calling Martz should have not so the player change and had 4 chances to throw a pass versus the 2 runs…
They should have just ran a toss play. The Cardinals had everyone packed in the box. The 49ers could have put Mike Martz in at running back and they could have made it in on a toss.
they are playing for a good draft pick.
I **** to say it but… Bad coaching.

Either that or Mike Singletary is an idiot.

Needless to say it was a bad idea.

I know, if you run, at least go to your all-star running back Frank Gore

my thoughts exactly..horrible play call in that situation..they should’ve ran a bootleg and let Hill try to run it in
