Did the 49ers make a good decisions to trade next years first pick?

49ers

They have a shot to be good this year but if someone gets hurt and the team tanks then they blow the chance of getting an impact player next year. I cant agree with this decision, I dont think Joe Staley was worth what might be a top 15 pick next year.

NO It was to steep a price to pay to then turn around and get a tackle out of Central Michigan. The Niners will be taking a step back this season and that pick they gave away will more than likely be a top 10. The Pats get fatter off of other teams mistakes.

No I don’t think because if the niners have a good season they probably won’t need next years first rounder all the would have to do is fill up a couple of needs and sometimes you don’t need seven rounds or seven picks to do that.

Staley has awesome potential. I think the 49ers’ decision to trade away their pick was reasonable. They play in a very weak division, and I’ll be shocked if they don’t win at least 10 games next season, so I highly doubt that the pick they gave up will be a top 15 pick. The guys who will really regret trading away their first rounder next year will be the Browns, not the 49ers.

I think it’s a very good idea. They got a solid OLT out of the deal in Joe Staley, someone who should be a fixture in their OL for the next 10 years. Also it must be noted that the 49ers are in a division that any of the teams in it could win. It is quite likely that the pick traded could be lower than the 20th pick overall, because I think the 49ers have a good chance to make the playoffs next year.

same old boring answer, only time will tell.mike nolen seems to be pretty good at getting something out of nothing so we’ll have to wait and see.

It was a good idea. In their division, they have a great chance to step up and make the playoffs. It was a smart decision to get the pieces in place now to get ahead of the rest.
